Missouri Prevention Advocacy Leaders (MoPAL) is a group of substance misuse prevention coalition members and Prevention Resource Center staff who are passionate about advocating for primary prevention efforts and support across Missouri. MoPAL has subcommittees that focus on specific topics like events, membership, and substance-focused information. MoPAL Vision:

We envision a Missouri where all communities thrive, free from the negative consequences of substance misuse.

MoPAL Mission:

Through a diverse and unified voice, MoPAL advocates for primary substance misuse prevention by providing education, promoting evidence-based policies, and ensuring that the principles of prevention are upheld and championed across Missouri.

Goals:

  1. Prevent youth substance use

  2. Reduce the negative consequences of substance misuse

  3. Bring statewide awareness to primary prevention

  4. Increase visibility of MoPAL across the state

Strategies:

  1. Advocate for sufficient, sustainable funding for primary prevention.

  2. Provide comprehensive education about primary prevention including credible, data-informed facts and information.

  3. Build strategic relationships and collaborative partnerships, including active engagement of youth and other focus populations.

  4. Research emerging trends to provide education to legislators, community members, key partners, and youth.
